1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Sales Fuel Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit https://sales-fuel.co.uk/ (“our website”). It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control their use.
We are committed to being transparent about how we collect and use your data. Please read this policy alongside our Privacy Policy.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website owners.
Cookies can be:
- Session cookies — temporary files deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies — files that remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
- First-party cookies — set directly by us.
- Third-party cookies — set by a third party (such as an analytics provider) on our behalf.
3. How We Implement Cookie Consent
Our website uses Google Consent Mode v2 (Advanced Mode) to manage how tracking technologies behave based on your consent choices. Consent is managed through the GDPR Cookie Compliance plugin, which controls Google Tag Manager and all tracking scripts directly.
3.1 How it works
When you visit our website, the following process takes place:
- Google Tag Manager loads immediately but in a fully restricted state — all consent flags are set to “denied” by default before any tags fire.
- Our cookie consent banner is displayed, giving you the choice to accept or decline different categories of cookies.
- If you decline, no tracking cookies are set on your device. However, Google Analytics may still receive anonymous, cookieless signals about your visit (see section 3.2 below).
- If you accept, the relevant consent flags are updated to “granted” and full tracking begins.
- Your preference is saved so the banner does not appear on every page visit.
- You can change your preferences at any time via the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer of our website.
3.2 Google Consent Mode v2 and Modelled Data
We use Google Consent Mode v2 in Advanced Mode. This means that even when a visitor declines analytics cookies, Google Analytics receives cookieless, anonymous pings that record only that a visit occurred — with no personal data or identifying information attached.
Google uses these anonymous signals, combined with data from users who did consent, to produce modelled (estimated) aggregate data. This allows us to understand overall traffic patterns and marketing performance without compromising the privacy of visitors who declined consent.
No cookies are set and no personal data is collected for visitors who decline. The modelled data is statistical in nature and cannot be used to identify any individual.
3.3 Cookie Categories
When the consent banner appears, you can choose to accept or decline the following categories:
- Necessary — essential for the website to function. Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics — allows us to measure website traffic and understand how visitors use our site (Google Analytics / GA4).
- Marketing — enables campaign tracking, UTM attribution, and lead management via Zapier and Lead Byte.
4. Cookies We Use
4.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for our website to function and cannot be switched off. They include cookies that enable core functionality such as security, form submission, and session management. You cannot opt out of these cookies.
4.2 Analytics Cookies
We use Google Analytics (GA4) via Google Tag Manager to help us understand how visitors interact with our website. These cookies are only set after you have given consent for the Analytics category. They collect information in an aggregated form, including:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- How you arrived at our website (e.g. search engine, direct, referral)
- General geographic location (country/city level)
- Browser and device type
Google Analytics sets cookies including _ga and _gid. You can learn more at policies.google.com.
4.3 Marketing Cookies
When you visit our website via a link containing UTM parameters (e.g. utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign), we temporarily store this information in your browser’s sessionStorage — not a cookie — in order to preserve your attribution data until you make your consent choice. SessionStorage data is never sent to any server and is automatically cleared from your browser when you close the tab or window, or when Marketing consent is granted.
If you accept Marketing cookies, the attribution data is promoted from sessionStorage into a persistent first-touch cookie called utm_attribution, which is stored on your device for 90 days. This cookie is only ever written after Marketing consent has been granted and is never overwritten, preserving your original visit source.
When you complete a form on our website, the stored attribution data — along with the information you provide — is transmitted to Lead Byte via Zapier, our lead management platform. This enables us to follow up with you and measure marketing campaign effectiveness.
If you decline Marketing cookies, no attribution cookie is set and no UTM data is transmitted anywhere.
5. Summary of Cookies
| Cookie Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique users | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique users (short-term) | 24 hours |
| _gat | Google Analytics | Throttles request rate | 1 minute |
| utm_attribution | Sales Fuel Ltd | Stores first-touch marketing attribution data including traffic source, medium, campaign and landing page. Only set after Marketing consent is granted. | 90 days |
| Session cookie | Sales Fuel | Form functionality & security | Session |
Note on sessionStorage: When you first visit our website, UTM parameters from your URL are temporarily held in your browser’s sessionStorage (not a cookie) to preserve attribution data until you make your consent choice. This data is never sent to any server and is cleared as soon as Marketing consent is granted or when you close your browser.
6. Legal Basis for Using Cookies
Under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we rely on the following legal bases:
- Strictly necessary cookies: used on the basis of our legitimate interest in ensuring the website functions correctly. No consent is required.
- Analytics cookies: used only with your explicit consent, obtained via our cookie consent banner.
- Marketing cookies: used only with your explicit consent, obtained via our cookie consent banner.

8. Third-Party Services
Our website uses the following third-party services that may set cookies or process data:
- Google Analytics (GA4) — web analytics delivered via Google Tag Manager (Google LLC, USA). Implements Google Consent Mode v2 Advanced Mode. Data transfers are subject to Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Google Tag Manager — tag management platform used to deploy and manage all tracking scripts in a consent-aware manner. Managed directly by the GDPR Cookie Compliance plugin.
- Zapier — workflow automation used to transmit form submission data to Lead Byte. Data is only transmitted when a user submits a form and only includes attribution data if Marketing consent has been granted.
- Lead Byte — lead management and distribution platform. Receives form data only when submitted by the user.
9. International Data Transfers
Some of our third-party providers (including Google) process data outside the UK and European Economic Area (EEA). Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our business practices. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Where changes are significant, we may also notify you more prominently.
